On March 27, 2014, at our peak, Dew Foams suffered a devastating setback when an electrostatic spark caused a small piece of quilting foam to ignite and destroy the entire facility, including inventory, machinery, computers, and business records. Despite being covered by insurance, the estimated losses were $6 million. The challenges kept coming, and we didn’t know if our customers would return. We couldn’t manufacture products again for a year but partnered with competitors to make deliveries and learned valuable lessons about crisis management and insurance issues. Despite the setbacks, the company persevered, thanks to our greatest resource: our people. Our personal bonds with our employees were the foundation that held the company together, and they remained committed to rebuilding and restoring the company. We rebuilt Dew Foams on a foundation of support, resilience, and solidarity.
